After a harrowing beginning to his life, Stellan rebounded to our amazement this past year. Now a bundle of spunk and energy, one would never know Stellan had ever been sick. At 2 years old, Stellan is a spitfire, full of will and testosterone. Simultaneously loveable and stubborn, Stellan knows what he wants and he isn’t afraid to flash a toothy grin or kick his feet on the floor to get it.

Trucks and airplanes are two of Stellan’s favorite things, but if you don’t want out, he’ll climb into your car, atop your tractor or up on your riding lawn mower. Loud noises scare him. I’ll admit loving it when Stellan runs into my arms, saying, “I skeerd.” I try not to give in to Stellan when he’s being demanding, but his lone dimple sometimes gets me when he smiles. Our third boy is very capable physically and is rather the daredevil. He would rather watch moths than touch them and has a special bond with his daddy.

Stellan is a superb napper and a good, albeit messy, eater. He is patient when we ride in the car and isn’t aggressive at all. Full of the desire to do things “by self,” Stellan asserts his own personhood very well. He sleeps in a crib still, with his soft blanket which he calls either “Manket” or “Blue.” We love Stellan so much and are still brought to tears when we think about the miraculous journey that brought him to be the wild toddler he is today.
