You can read the posts on my blog that I have written about Small Fry by clicking here.
Small Fry is our only daughter Maisie, born smack dab in the middle of her four brothers. She is 3 years old, but her verbal skills belie her age. She can spell her name aloud, but almost all of her written letters look like M’s.
Before having a daughter, I never really believed that girls might naturally gravitate towards dolls and the like. Small Fry proved me wrong when, even when offered “gender neutral” toys, she opted for baby dolls. She enjoys tucking her dolls into bed, playing with her dollhouse and wearing stuffed animals in her baby carrier, but Small Fry can also pack a punch. She holds her own when playing war with her brothers and often plays the role of the “shooter guy.”
Small Fry would rather play with a brother than alone. She mirrors Nuggey, respects Big Mac, bosses Stellan and babies Flurry. Watching her various interactions with all of her brothers is fascinating. She is not afraid to pick up slugs and loves to be tossed high into the air. Drawing and jumping on the trampoline are two of her favorite activities. She loves the color pink and honestly wishes she could fly.
During prayer time every night, Small Fry always prays for me and her daddy and all of her brothers by name, at least once. She is considerate, kind and rather patient, all things considered. She has learned to obey and is maturing right before our eyes. No longer a toddler, Small Fry is a little girl with a beautiful heart. We are so thankful to have been given our daughter.
