Today when Big Mac got home from school he told me one of his classes has an African name! Yes, today he had “Fiya.” He just couldn’t believe that gym time had the same name as the Amharic greeting he’s known since my first trip to Ethiopia. When I told him the class was actually called “Phy Ed,” he said he did wonder why they used an African word for gym time. My same little Lego lover was making “abstracted” Lego representations of household objects the other day. Seriously. Where does he come up with this stuff!? Check out the small, abstracted version he made of me and MckDaddy’s wedding photo!

I thought it was neat. Neat also is that Nuggey got to go home with a friend after school today instead of coming home! He was on cloud nine about it.
I’m back in the swing of things with my eating right and taking the awesome supplements I’ve been mentioning that I’ve fallen in love with. The scale was my friend this morning, telling me that I’ve lost two pounds. After I lose four more, I will be back where I left off before I fell off the wagon with health things when my husband left. I know it’s not about just the weight, it’s about being healthier. I feel so much better when I eat right and work out and get enough sleep and take vitamins. I have a friend who ran in my Christian homeschooling mama circle back in the Frozen Tundra. We originally connected about homeschooling and our other interests in common a couple of years ago. She ended up sharing with me how she used to suffer terrible migraines but found freedom from them after starting some health supplements. Carrie also let me know that her dad had lost 50 pounds using the same products. When I plateaued with my weight loss a while back at about 20 or 25 pounds, I finally decided to give these supplements a try for the first time. I lost 6 pounds the first week and had more energy after the first day.
So many of you have been asking what these energy giving, metabolism boosting, health benefitting supplements I’ve been taking to help me lose weight and keep my energy going throughout the day. To be honest, I did not want to share until I had taken them for a while and knew if they worked for me or not. Also, I am so particular about health and nutrition (or, at least, I try to be!), I sure didn’t want to take or share about anything until I had researched it, and its ingredients, as much as I could. Well, I came to a fully convinced place that these supplements are totally working for me and worth it. Also, I stand behind the natural ingredients in the products I take, supporting the safety in using them as a boost to my other healthy choices. Yes, I’ve arrived at a super excited place about sharing about them with you!
So, check out www.MckHealthy.com to see these supplements I’ve been raving about.
It’s a lot to take in, but some of those products are what I’ve been using. It’s way too much to get into totally in this post today, but if you are interested in learning more about the supplements, hearing which ones I use, having me help walk you through which products might be a good fit for you, learning how you can get the supplements more inexpensively (the retail price is what you’ll find listed but there are ways you can get them for wholesale!) or even maybe joining me and my now migraine free friend Carrie for an informational web call about these great energy boosting, metabolism pumping supplements, just email me at contact.mckmama (at) gmail.com and we can talk about it!!
I think we may end up making it through winter without having any real…winter! Has it been the oddest season ever for you where you live, too? The youngest three had well child visits at the (new) pediatrician yesterday, and it took all morning. All three of them are in the 75th-90th percentiles for height and weight. They all come from the same group, that’s for sure! I’m continuing to enjoy my time with Flurry during the days all the big kids are at school. I wasn’t able to attend it, but there was a lovely memorial for my grandma yesterday. My parents said it was beautiful. She was a beautiful person, so I am glad her memorial service was the same.
Time to make dinner, adios for now!

Wow, Big Mac’s got lots of creative skill! So sweet how Nuggey was all excited about a playdate at a friends house! Also so good to hear your kids are thriving and loving school. Good for you on getting fit! God bless!
Such a talented little artist! I LOVE it!! It’s definitely one of our mildest winters. But my dr said last week that it’s been the worst for flus because there haven’t been enough days of a “freeze” to kill all the germs. I can attest to that.
But I can’t complain. We’re loving the winter and just praying it doesn’t mean a warmer summer. Hope you’re feeling more well.
That is pretty neat, and it looks like such a beautiful picture of you and MckDaddy!
Continued Prayers for you all!
If Big Mac made that without any suggestion from you, I’d say you have a very, very intelligent and creative boy in your house! I’m so impressed.
He came up with the idea all by himself and carried it out before I even knew what he was up to!
Oh, my. That really is amazing–very few kids of his age could even see anything abstract about a photo, let alone reproduce it in such a manner. I hope you’ll show us some of his other creations from time to time! Feel better, Jennifer.
So sorry to hear about your grandma.
Weather for us (also in the Frozen Tundra, but further north of you and a state over) has been exceptionally mild. I think I could get used to winters like this – beats the usual winters with -30 temps, multiple blizzards, and a good foot or more of snow on the ground all winter.
I’m in arizona and its supposed to be like, 80 today?! We’ve had a super warm winter this year, well they never get TOO cold, but usually colder than it is this year. Follow my journey to healthy living @ http://www.whatifoundwhilewalkingaround.com
Very creative!! I love that wedding picture, and it’s no longer on your blog.
Hi Jennifer….is there any chance you two will get back together??
We got snow that fell early today in the Dakotas, so far about 1 1/2 inches in N dak. I guess S.dak was to expect up to 9 inches. Winter has been pleasant and unusual so far. Oh only one more month of winter left. Yesterday the temps were summer like. So glad to hear Nuggey got to have an after school play date. How fun for him. Great job Big Mac on the art piece.
Hi. I KNEW you were taking Xyngular. Many people in our area, which isn’t too far from where you use to live
are taking/using that and are seeing amazing results. So proud of you Jennifer! Keep it up!
Oh and our winter has been very mild here the Not So Frozen Tundra! We got a few inches of snow earlier this week and are expected to get snow this Sunday too
Other than that, MILD winter!
Chicago weather has been crazy this winter, too! Although my son and my entire class of Kindergarteners are very excited about the forecasted 6 inches of snow predicted for tonight!
I’m just 10 minutes south of Minneapolis, and this has been my favorite winter by far!!! I figured Mother Nature owed us after the horrendous one we had last year!! Love the lego sculpture too!
What an uplifting popst. Really ejoyed reading all the positive things you had to say today!
Great job on getting “back on the wagon”, girl! You obviously know that clean eating and exercise are the main two ways to a healthier body and healthier body image, but I am firm believer that sometimes (more often than not) we still have to supplement the food we eat because our body just doesn’t get all the right things it needs, no matter how good we eat! Seems ironic doesn’t it? I am a group fitness instructor and former personal trainer and though I don’t have any more baby weight to lose, there are ALWAYS areas of our bodies we, as women, want to change/tighten/tone/improve! I also take supplements and my hubby is a rep for a different nutritional company and we are a big fan of their nutritional energy drinks. What is it about 2 or 3 pm that KNOCKS US OUT????? Heehee. Keep up the good work, Jennifer, you are such an inspiration to so many!
Hey MckMama! I wish you nothing but the best. I just wanted to leave a quick comment and say to be very careful with any network marketing company. I’m not saying that all network marketing companies are bad or anything like that, but I have some experience in the industry and it’s best to be very cautious when getting started. Compensation plans can be very confusing and it’s best to knwo your chances of success up front. Good luck!!
A predicted high of 65 degrees in Baltimore, MD today.
Figures I got snow boots for Christmas.
I did some research on the company but had trouble finding where this product is manufactured? Could you point me in the right direction? I have been tring to lose weight and gained 10 of my 20 pound lost back
I was doing the 17 day diet. Could use a boost!!!! If I google the company there are a bazillion links to them!
MckMama, I love you so much
your beauty
your strength
your big heart
your friendliness
your faith
your faithfulness to Jesus
the way you mother your 5 babies
the way you love your husband
the way you leave everything with God.
I look up to you and adore everything about you!!
Love you Mama
Terri
Keep up the good work with the weight loss! I’m stuck at 22 lbs lost, but I’ve also gone off the wagon a couple of times.Oh well, I’ll get there eventually and so will you! I look at it more as a lifestyle change than a diet. That way I hope it sticks for the rest of my LIFE!!!
I believe that Big Mac may very well be an artistic genius.
So sorry to hear of your grandma’s passing and that couldn’t make it to her funeral service.
I hope Nuggey had a super fabulous time at his new friend’s home! How awesome for him to already have made a friend at his new school! Yay Nuggey!
MckMama:
Been following your families journey since Stellan’s story began. Pray for you often, but comment rarely. Just wanted to let you know that you and your beautiful children have been in my prayers lately, right alongside MckDaddy. Praying for repentance and reconciliation, and your children’s hearts to be protected in all of this. Praying Psalm 34:8 over you all tonight, “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” I would challenge you not to focus on searching for the good in your current situation, because you’ll come up empty more times than not, but instead remember, “the Lord is good” and take refuge in Him and His unfailing love.
Side note too: “Fiya” is actually a greeting from the Ethiopian language of Oromo or Oromiffa. Not trying to be degrading or rude, just a friendly correction from a reader who lived in Ethiopia
Oromo!! What they speak in Garmaam! Not the main language I
Ethiopia…yes I should have remembered! Thanks for reminding me.
I can’t believe how amazing that abstract photo of your wedding is! Big Mac should start his own business doing that for others
I’m so sorry you lost your Grandma!:’( But I’m glad she had a beautiful memorial service!
How exciting for Nuggey to get to go to a new friend’s house! Was it nerve racking for you? I’m still anxious about those types of things!:/
That Lego art is AWESOME! That is one talented kiddo you’ve get there! My kids are Lego fanatics too! But my son will not disassemble anything, once he’s created it. Apparently, he has too many Lego’s!;) My daughter is also a fan. Now that they have specific “girlie” sets…she’s thrilled! She’s always been perfectly happy playing with the regualr ones…but these come with animals and flowers and people shaped like people…not blocks!;) I’m sure Small Fry would dig them too!
YAY! for supplements! I am going to look into these! I’ve been completely exhausted for months! I also need to lose about 20-25 pounds…so these may be just what I need!;) Thanks for the info!
Love, hugs and continued prayers!
NO real winter here in Salt Lake! My hubby is bummed and I was too. Today it was almost 60 degrees???? The only good thing is that I really didn’t have to clean any snow off my car while having a 3yr old and 1yr old and being 6-8months pregnant. Makes me wonder what kind of spring we will have.
You know what you might also like to try? I lost 4 pounds in 2 days last weekend on a juice fast.
I (and the whole Bleasdale Clan, actually!) got into making my own organic veggie and fruit juice after watching the documentary “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.” Here is the trailer for it: http://dagmarbleasdale.com/2012/02/info-on-top-vegetarian-mom-and-our-extreme-juice-fast/
I’ve blogged about my juice fast experience several times. My husband did 7 days and lost 10 pounds and his sister is on day 11.
Same here: we’ve only had snow twice or three times this winter in Westchester, NY – compared to a ton last year.
So happy for Nuggey that he had a playdate
I am actually looking into doing this juice fast beginning next week!
So fun that C had his first play date; being the energetic and fun little guy that he is, I am sure it was a great treat for him and I can picture that when you reciprocate that all of your kids will try to get in on the activity. And I am sure that other kids will LOVE coming to your house!
i wonder how they would work with my thyroid medicine. I am so proud of you. you are doing amazing
That lego version of your wedding picture is amazing! It was almost 60 degrees here today which is crazy for this time of year for our area.
Amy
Our winter has been strange as well. It was around 60 degrees here today! Which is so weird. We’ve had very little snow in my area so far. It all dumps on the ski resorts and goes around us.
I LOVVVVVEEEEE the abstract art — how smart is he!!!!!
I can’t believe it…….my flowers out front are coming up! It’s like it was when I lived in Virginia! The flowers were always up in February.
Holy Cow!!! too bad it is so costly…… I need to win the lottery or something.
I’m in NY and we have had a VERY mild winter!! It has not snowed here more than a 1/2 an inch or so once or twice!! So loving it!!
Temps have been in the 40′s and 50′s! So glad you are finding your way back to feeling better. I, too, have gotten back into my routine of eating better and exercising. Feel so good!!
Sorry to hear about the death of your grandma. Iowa weather is just like yours!! And obviously Alberta!!
Sunny California is 75 deg today!!!! We are not having a normal winter either. So glad your grandmother’s service was as beautiful as her. She sounded like a wonderful person. It sounds like your kids are enjoying their new experiences. One of these days I will have to take one of your photography classes
that lego version of your wedding photo is amazing. i’m serious.
no winter for us either…tomorrow is supposed to be 74 and we’re off to the park to have a blast in the sun!
Hmmm. Not fully related to your post… but I need to learn USA geography better, because I could almost swear you live in Alberta. Only you don’t. OBVIOUSLY… but we always have the same weather as you!
The hyperlink to the Nuggey image doesnt exist – it goes back to the main page. I just wanted to let you know!
By the way, it’s been a very warm winter here in houston also!! It’s 78 today and supposed to get to 85 or so tomorrow. Last year we had the COLDEST winter on record, and this year the warmest!
