My favorite Kindergartener shared his treat with his sister without being asked, had another friend over after school, went to Wednesday night church tonight, is the tallest in his class, probably won’t have a mohawk again until summer, loves rest time at school because his teacher reads him stories, wears silver nailpolish every day, has a cowlick just like mine, wants to learn karate, has the most handsome eyes ever, is the best cuddler, has a few freckles, can easily pick up his big brother, writes “I love you, Mama” all the time on his Magnadoodle, is a wonderful friend and can eat more chicken than I bet you would believe.
Cullen is my favorite Kindergartener.

I never knew Nuggey’s real name! What nicknames do you have for him?
I love how different all of your kids’ names are. Why can’t I think of Flurry’s real name right now…
Scratch that, Lachlan, or course.
He is such a great looking guy! And he looks so happy, all of your kids always look so happy, you are a fantastic Mama!!!
In Christ, Kelley
I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now, and I have to say, I love finally discovering what your kids’ actual names are! Cullen. Super cute. Keep on keepin’ on, Jen. You are doing beautifully.
Such a sweet boy! Would love to hear more about how the school situation is treating you! I know the kids are all loving it, but what about you, aside from hanging out with Flurry? It’s such a big change in your life! To all of a sudden have so much more time, to not be the one teaching the kids’ school work anymore, to be facing public school. Thoughts???
He is very handsome!!!! And I love his name!!!!
Thanks! And thanks!
Cullen is my favorite Kindergartener too. He’s my son!
Same name, same age.
Oh, Mckmama, he is SO sweet. It’s a little ridiculous just how handsome he is! And I totally love his name. Cullen? How rad.
What a cutie! Glad to hear he’s doing so well in school.
He is my favorite too!!
What a handsome guy!
I love the nail polish! I hope the kids don’t tease him about it. My son got it really bad once…when he went to a sleep over with his toenail painted…What can I say…the boy has three sisters! After that he told me he would just keep his socks on in such situations!
I have a favorite Kindergartner also– she draws for me and writes “I love mom” on the back of her math sheet EVERY DAY! What a sweet age
You mentioned somewhere (Facebook maybe??) that Cullen would be repeating kindergarten. Why is that? Does he have a late birthday? My son is only two, but I’ve already been debating about whether or not to hold him back because of his late July birthday. I get lots of conflicting advice.
He turned 5 in August. We never intended him to be in Kindergarten until next year. It worked our perfectly to have him finish this year out, though, rather than be in PreK with his little sister! He’ll do Kindergarten for real all year next year. Big Mac already was in first grade when I was homeschooling him, so he’s staying in that grade and will move on next year. Works out perfectly!
I think that’s awesome! We waited until our son was 6 to start Kindergarten and it’s been the best decision! He is such a leader and has developed a confidence in himself that is heartwarming to see. As a high school teacher, I will tell you that you won’t be sorry! =) Thinking about your family and praying that you are able to find peace in whatever outcome may be. Hugs to you, Jennifer.
That is the best picture of him! I literally gasped when I saw it! Handsome and sensitive to a womans needs (the snack to his sister, loves to hear a woman talk – his teacher- and leaving random love notes!)…the little girls are going to start lining up sooner than you think!
You can tell by his face, he knows he’s special in your eyes. You’re a great mom!
Kim
My Cullen is also my favorite kindergartner. Peace.
Your kids are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE when you post pictures of them.
Been praying for you guys- thank you for sharing and being honest with us. I know you have tough days, minutes, hours, but it’s been nice the last few days to “hear” your posts getting more and more cheerful. :<}
Your readers love you!
Cullen is such a cute boy!
until I read this I had TOTALLY forgotten that I got the name of one of my twins from you! I’m a momma to all boys ( I have 5 of them!) and all of their names are K’s… so My Cullen is Kullen
Hope you don’t mind!
He looks happy!
+ he really is a cutie pie.
So very, very handsome he is. What a sweet boy. Glad he is loving school!!
Does Nuggey get any grief from classmates about his nail polish? I was just curious because I am finding that my son’s friends (I have sons ages 3 up to 15…6 of them!) are very open to the uniqueness among them. But my boys are homeschooled…as are most (not all) of their friends. Are you finding public school kids to be open to uniqueness?
I asked him what the kids said and apparently he hasn’t gotten any grief at all!
And so handsome! Getting so big. What a sweet boy you are raising!
Such a wonderful loving mother you are doting over you handsome son!
He is quite handsome! Nuggey has been my favorite little boy of yours to watch grow. I truly believe that this experience, going to public school, your children will “grow” in so many more ways. Not like there is anything wrong with homeschooling, but being in the midst of other children from different backgrounds shapes a child.
What a handsome and sweet boy!
so sweet!
So sweet! I love those Magnadoodle love notes.
P.S. I love the name Cullen.
He’s absolutely adorable that’s for darn sure!
Love him! So adorable! I too have a favorite little Kindergartner. Her name is Lexxi and she is girlie and MAJOR tomboy all wrapped up in one little feisty happy package. She loves everyone and is sensitive and caring and loves to have a great time! Lexxi and Cullen sound like they would have a blast together. Such a fun age!!
Silver nail polish – what a hoot! Wonder how many others have followed suit???
He sounds like a leader….and a heart throb!
He is so handsome!
My 13 year old son is named Cullen. It’s my grandfather’s middle name. Who would have thought it would be such a well known name because of the Twilight books?
I never thought it would be!
Never thought of the Twilight books. Nice Irish name. My husband had met someone in medical school with this name. Loved it since.
Sweetness overload! What a blessed mama you are!
Happy to know what NUGGEYS name is after following for 3.5 years! Cullen is adorable! Please come to Colorado with your kids and they can play with my Grandkids around their age and we can eat hummus and take pictures! Janet
What a handsome Kindergartener you have there!
Amy
He reminds me so much of my adored godson T.
same blend of sweetness and mischief. thanks for sharing.
Cullen, one of my five favorite msc’s. love this post. You got some great kids there Jen.
He is precious! I love him!!
Well this nearly makes me want to cry! Sniff
this is so precious and he is just as adorable as can be. I know you are so proud of him!!! I love his little cow lick, too. My husband has the same one – I bet any future boys of ours will have it too!
My son and I share a cowlick, too! Who knew cowlicks were genetic?! I think your Cullen and my Connor would be kindergarten buddies, cowlicks and all!
He is adorable and looks sweet and sensitive. Love his name Jennifer
I don’t know why, but that touched my heart a little deeper because you used his real name. He sure is a cutie pie. I don’t comment much (or hardly at all!) but I sure am praying hard for you and your family.
–blessings
Adorable.
GOD BLESSED YOU OVER AND OVER
Oh, Culley. I wish I could invite him and his big brother over to play Legos and bounce on the trampoline with my first grader.
This little guy has always been so cute to see on your blog! He seems to be a great kid!!
Also, is this going to be part of a series titled “In Which I Begin Using My Children’s Real-Life Names”?
Maybe.
Hmmmm…. That’d be fun
Oh I love when you use their real names! He is just too cute!!!
I noticed over the last few weeks as well. I’ve never been bothered by nicknames on blogs (I use them myself – but only out of respect for my husband) but I know some folks are. My question: How do you pronounce Big Mac’s real name? I can’t seem to say it properly (at least, I don’t think I am…)
KEER-ahn.
kindergartener***
who couldn’t love that!?!?!?! precious!
I have a favorite kindergardener too
but your kindergardener is awfully cute!
Totally adorable. You are going to have all kinds of girls chasing after that one!
