Eggs (not farm fresh!), sausage, tomatoes, green onions. Breakfast of champions.
Now, I just can’t wait until 3:00 when all four of my champions come home from their first real, full day of school!!!

That looks absolutely delicious!
How do you get your children to eat so well? My son is almost 5. He has such a sensitive gag reflex that when he eats (or even just smells) foods he doesn’t like he throws up. We got so frustrated with the vomiting at every meal that we asked him to try something new that we just gave up and make him a special meal so that we don’t have clean up a mess.
That looks really good. Makes me hungry. I wonder if my girls would eat it. You’ve been so good at consistently giving them great choices.
I don’t think I’ll ever have enough time to cook like that before school
We do make eggs for L sometimes, but that’s it. Wish he ate tomatoes.
Yes, feed them well. They’ll have a lot of new germs to fight off. (I remember the constant colds of that first year in childcare… and mostly *I* was the one who suffered from them the most. Thanks a lot, school!)
What a good looking picture! I don’t like tomatoes, but I’ve been craving them since you posted this picture, just because it looks so great.
What they think about their school ?
Looks so good! One a more serious note, I just got caught up on reading your blog, and my heart breaks for you all, husband included. I will be praying for God’s redemptive work to be quick and visible. That He will restore your hearts to one another, restore your family and redeem the days snatched by the enemy. Above all I pray His sovereign will be evident to you both and obedience be quick. I pray you are able to mama well, your kids are protected, and your privacy remians intact.
Oh, yum! Hope the kids had a great first day! I’m sure they did great and will come home with lots of artwork, stories, and new friends!
SUPER yummm!!! Now tell me, WHAT did you do with all of that time and just OSC (one small child
)?!??!
Looks good. I’ll have to make it one day. How did the kids do at school?
That looks so good that my pregnant butt wants to get up and go make it!!! even though I JUST had dinner
That looks amazing! Hoping that your littles had a great first day!
Been thinking of you today, Jennifer. I haven’t had lunch, so that breakfast looks totally yummy right now! I can’t wait to hear stories about all their days at school. I bet they will love it!
why are you sending stellan to school – he is still so little – why not keep the two little ones at home with you?
If I’m remembering correctly than his birthday is in October? If so, this would make him about three and a half? That’s about the average age to start kids in pre-k
New day, new chapter. What an adventure you have been through, and remained, or pretended to be strong!!! Enjoy hearing the stories your kids have from the day. Tomorrow – bubbly bath and you time when you can. You are strong and you will be okay!!! The hundreds of us that read your blog know that too! The kids are lucky to have you as their mother!!!!
Looks yummy. I bet it was strange today having them in school (the littles especially I mean). Continuing to pray for you all — and you especially on this V-day. I’m praying for MckDaddy too, that he will have a change of heart and that the Lord will work another miracle for your family. He is able. In the meantime, you are doing great!
Looks Good! praying for your kids on their first day of school! Janet
Does it feel weird to have four of them out of the house at once? Can’t wait to hear about the stories they share from school. That is the best part of picking up Avinash from school. Hang in there
ps- I made this for lunch today after seeing your blog. I had to use tomatillo since I had no tomato and omitted the sausage of course. It was a huge hit!!!
You know, being in a “routine” of sort may be helpful for them… I am so excited to hear about their first day!
I seriously may make that for dinner!
Looks TASTY!!!!!!
I have been a long time follower, but have never commented. Just a few thoughts that I couldn’t get off my mind this morning.
As an elementary school teacher, I have had my fair share of kiddos with parents who are separated or divorced. As you already know, it can affect the kids in such different ways, and at different times. Giving their new teachers a little bit of insight into what is happening is SO helpful, even if you just let them know the bare minimum. That way when little emotions run high, or certain things both them, it gives us something to go off of or something to talk about.
My other thought was… when you fill out all the ‘school paperwork’, make sure you specify who is allowed to pick the kiddos up. It can be very stressful on the kids, as well as the staff, if one parent tries to pick up the kids, when they are supposed to be with a different parent. We have a policy that you have to show ID, and if you are NOT on the pick up list, then we call the primary person who picks them up.
We are continually praying for your family…. Katie.
FYI Jennifer (MckMama) is also a school teacher:)Im sure she remembers all that!
She was an art teacher…not that it doesn’t apply but it is different when you see a child 1 or 2x a week for 30 mn versus all day/everyday.
I’m a teacher too and I’m wondering why a teacher would start a child of hers on valentine’s day? All of our school classes brought valentines for their classmates and also had parties. I would feel bad that new kids would not have a valentine mailbox nor any valentines from friends. I would prefer that new students start on a more “normal” day.
It would seem to me that this poor momma can’t do anything right. Even the day she chooses to put her kids in school … my heavenly word.
I wish there was a “like” button!!:)
That’s great advice Katie!! As a school teacher too I have the same scenarios!
We write in their daily agenda if someone else (including bio Dad or babysitter or whoever) is picking the kids up. Works well…
That time when they come home from school can be such a great time too! Talking a mile a minute! I remember having to learn how to ask my kids about their day at school, I laugh at myself now. You can’t just ask, “how was school” because all I ever got was “fine”. I learned to ask more probing questions like, “who did you play with at recess?” or “did you make a new friend?”, etc. I can imagine you will have a great snack ready for them where they will you can have a conversation while they are in one place!
That looks delicious! I could eat it right now. I have a great idea! You should do a cookbook! -packed with pictures! I would buy it. Kindle edition please!
Yep–I would too!
Great, great idea!
That looks and sounds really good! How fun!
That looks like a yummy breakfast! Your children are very fortunate to have a mother who takes such good care of them! My son feels like home-cooked breakfast = love. He is right.
Breakfast looks super yummy!
I’m sure the kids will come home with lots of fun stories to share.
Praying for all of you.
Can’t wait to hear how their first day went! This could be the perfect “break” for you to get your feet under you…who’s to say homeschooling can’t resume again in the fall?! Good luck, sweet Mama…
You’ll have to share what you did with your day with only one! I am sure there was some ups and downs!
Mmm, that looks delicious! Why have I never thought to add tomatoes to my breakfast concoctions??
I’m praying for you, dear.
Your the best Jennifer. Food looks so yummy!!!!!
Looks great. I always thought that would be one of the biggest struggles going from home schooling ot public school, having to get them ready and eat breakfast by a certain time and out the door. I’m sure your kids will do great. Thankfully, 2 of my kids eat breakfast at school, lol. In God’s love, sheila
Looks delicious!
Amy
So, do you think there is a big taste difference between your farm eggs and the store bought ones?… just curious.
Fresh farm eggs are WONDERFUL. A guy I work with sells them to us. They are precious! If I need more eggs than his hens supply, I buy my eggs at the local farmer’s market. What a difference from the supermarket eggs!
Yes there is a bog difference! Farm fresh taste much better
oops big difference
Hey Jen,
Well, how did the kids do in school? Did they like it? I bet the baby was lonely not having all of his playmates around. I hope you’re doing well today.
Can’t wait to hear what they all thought of school.
Take Care,
Jenn
I know you are super into homeschooling, but I’m wondering if having 4 of the kids in school is maybe good for you because it will give you more of an opportunity to have ‘you’ time. I don’t get much ‘me’ time and I only have 2 kids right now. And it has to be freeing to have some time to be able to tend to your emotions without having to put up a brave face and distract them from their sadness, etc. Hang in there, lady.
Yum! They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day! What a good start!
Yum! That will keep them going today!!
BLESS YOU! I’m sure your days feel different without them! Praying.
Looks Yummy! I am mostly a lurker and just revisited the site a week or so ago. I am sorry to hear about your recent struggles. I wanted to say regarding sending the kids off to school…my mom kept my two small kids (now 3 and 19 months) until the middle of last year. Just before my son turned one. Anyway, she kept them, at my house. While we worked. And then my grandmother fell. Thankfully she is still with us, but because my mom is really the only one to take care of her -grandfather passed many years ago and my uncle lives two hours away and is a doctor- she had to stop watching the kids. They are now in daycare. It was hard. I felt like I was returning to work from maternity leave all over again. We’be adapted. It took my daughter a couple of weeks, but she likes going to “school” and it is nice that they are learning social skills. And they are learning things you don’t like as well, such as biting, but that’s life. You can’t protect them from everything! So I can feel some of your pain, and my kids had to adapt to not seeing someone they loved daily, albeit much different circumstances, but it gets easier. Hang in there. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
My son didn’t attend a day of school/daycare until he was past 3 years old, and he was a biter as a toddler. It isn’t something they learn at school – it’s just something kids do.
