January online photography classes!

It’s time to grab your camera or your editing program and learn how to make the most of them once and for all!

Yes, my January online photography classes are here. I’ll be taking my Canons out of their bag and teaching you what I know.

SundayErica

Yes, this really is my camera bag. Want to know all about this beauty that carries lenses, camera bodies and more in padded, sectioned style? Just click right here.

But on to more important things. The classes. Held in the comfort of your living room while you lounge in your jammies with your computer, the classes I am offering this month are:

Camera Basics

Through showing, explaining and giving you hands-on tasks to help you learn, I will walk you step by step through some of the basics of your SLR camera. Learn what ISO is and how to adjust yours, practice changing your shutter speed and learn why you need to understand aperture in order to get better photographs. Stop shooting in automatic mode, and get your camera to work to its fullest potential! This is a class for true beginners!

Camera Advanced

Already know how to shoot in Manual mode a little but need some work getting even better? This class is for you! Bring your Nikon or Canon SLR and a cup of coffee. Each class will be tailored to meet the needs and desires of the people who have signed up. Come to class with questions! At the very least, we will cover light metering, fill light, white balance, setting and using focus points, RAW vs. JPG, continuous shooting, dramatic shutter speeds and more. This class is the follow-up class to the Camera Basics class.

Lightroom Basics

Lightroom is my favorite editing software! Learn from me what is so amazing about it. You don’t even need to have Lightroom on your computer to take this class. Seriously. But afterwords, you’re probably going to want to get it! We will cover importing photographs, editing multiple photographs at once and how to adjust each setting in the program (and what each setting does!). I’ll walk you through how I edit my photographs step by step. By the time you’re done, you’ll be able to work on making your photographs better than they’ve ever been.

All classes are $45 for a two hour interactive class. A webcam and microphone on your computer are helpful, but not necessary. The schedule for the classes is as follows:

Wednesday, January 18, 1 pm Central, Lightroom Basics

Wednesday, January 18, 6:00 pm Central, Camera Basics

Saturday, January 21, 8:30 pm Central, Camera Advanced

Hi Jennifer! I’ve got a burning Ask MckMama question – What on earth do you do to keep all your photos straight?? I’m not at all a professional photographer, but I’ve got THOUSANDS of photos and videos living on my home computer. Do you have any tips or recommendations for storing, archiving, backing up, etc. etc.? I’d love to learn what you do to keep your photos safe…

  2. I love lightroom. Just starting to get it figured out better. It is so fast.

  3. Will you be offering the basic in Feb? I’ve ordered my camera, but I’m not sure it will be here in time!

  4. One of these days I’m going to take one of your classes! Right now the computer is sick and in the shop.

  5. I don’t have a web cam. Would I be able to take the Lightroom class?

  6. Alex says:

All signed up for your advanced class! Looking forward to it! Also .. totally off topic, but when Stellan was in the hospital oh so long ago with SVT and people were still putting his name all over the world … I had one that I held his name up at the Golden Gate bridge in SF. I never posted it, but wanted you to know that we pray for him and your family daily! :) Hope he is back to his bright smile and happy self soon!

  7. Kathleen says:

Wow, it would be really great to take part in one of your classes! I will definitely think about it and I am actually going to email you with a question.

Hope Stellan is back to his normal little self soon.

I have that camera bag. I love the look of it, but what I’m disappointed in is you can’t close it up tight. Sure it has the 3 snaps, but if you have any lenses of a descent length along with your camera you can’t snap it. My bag tipped over and out came a lens. I just wish the bag had a flap that could be zipped, buckled or snapped securely!!

Hmmm, very tempting!! You should have give-aways for spots in your classes! I think i’ll have to take a class – I’d love to know how to use my Canon beyond it’s auto functions!

    Blessings!
