Not Me! Monday…with a big sister giveaway!!

Are you feeling totally embarrassed after nodding off a few times during church, due to newborn exhaustion and the presence of pain killing narcotics in your system? Feeling guilty when you ate your 4 year old son’s leftover birthday cake for a midnight snack? Well, don’t be! Not Me! Monday was born out of my desire to admit some of my imperfections and reveal a few moments I’d rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to join in and do the same thing!

I’ll start!

This past week I did not give birth to a 6 pound, 14 ounce newborn. I didn’t spend a few extra days in the hospital with him, only to come home and float away in a sea of happy tears after seeing our other children love on said newborn. I most certainly didn’t wear the shutter out on my camera, taking pictures of our children holding their new baby brother. And I most certainly didn’t go over the top with Small Fry, capturing her emotions during her very first time ever holding her newest brother. Not me! Nor did I get a giggle out of the fact that we still have our countdown to MckFlurry’s birth paper chain in the background of lots of these photos, since he came early and we didn’t get to rip off all the links!

I didn’t take so many pictures of Small Fry that I gave myself a headache trying to figure out which one to use for this post. Nope. And so I’m certainly not covering more ground today by posting some of my other favorite photographs of Small Fry with MckFlurry. Not me!!!

  3. Kelly Vasami says:

These are just absolutely beyond precious! How do you pick a favorite?? Your heart must be overflowing with joy right now, I cannot imagine! I love every single photograph, but if I had to pick a favorite, and by one I mean two, it would be the one where Small Fry is examining his hands, and the one where she is caught in the act plucking at his eyelashes. Beyond. Cute. Please give all ten toes a snuggle on my behalf. Heck, give all 50 toes a snuggle :)

  4. What I would like to know is this: when do you have time to run such an awesome blog when there are so many cheeks and feet and tiny toes that are just screaming to be kissed, touched, and tickled?

    You really are super Mom!

  5. chie says:

Hoping this counts since I don’t have a blog yet but really want that hat!! :)

My favorite is the picture of Small Fry kissing McFlurry…sweet!

This past week, I most certainly DID NOT capitalize on my son’s obsession with vacuums by asking him if he wanted to vacuum “with Mommy’s real vacuum” EVERY DAY so that I would not have to spend time in the sweltering heat! I want my son to have lots of time playing in the fresh air so I would NEVER do that! ;)

  13. errosmom says:

Precious pictures! Even her toes show her joy and delight.

Small Fry is so amazingly kind, patient, loving and empathetic for such a young child!!!! :) I can totally imagine her growing up to be someone who brings compassionate care to others, like a nurse, doctor, physical or occupational therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist or social worker — or perhaps a wildlife rehabilitator or animal shelter manager!

    Hugs from Shari in Cali.

  18. It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Not me monday! Congrats on the new baby! Hope you all are doing well :) Cute pics too! Love it!

  21. debbie says:

ok….I have to ask you this……how in the world do all four of your beautiful children have such clean feet??? Do you constantly scrub your floors?? or are they not allowed to wear shoes in your house???

Seriously, as I was enjoying all of these pics, I couldn’t help but notice how clean all of their feet were!!!

  22. Laura says:

    Love the pics-so cute.

  23. Julie says:

I didn’t just have to go to the dentist and have secret thoughts of being rude to the higenist who was too rough. I did not just have to call the fire department to have them rescue my five year old from the roof of our treehouse. Nope not me. I’m not wearing a spanx nursing tank to hold in my post partum rolls. I did not no way just give my 2 year old a baby bottle so he’d take a nap. Don’t think I just called a babysitter to come swim with my kids while I do nothing. Not me- I’d never do the things. No way sister :-)

  24. Bonnie says:

    Precious priceless pictures!

    Best,
    Bonnie

  25. Christine says:

She is going to make a wonderful big sister! Those pictures are SO adorable!

I absolutely LOVE these pictures. I’ve scrolled through them three times now, and each time I’m touched by Small Fry’s absolute adoration for her new baby brother. These photos definitely need to be framed and displayed in your home. What a wonderful big sister and what a precious bundle of joy!

He is just precious! Congrats again! It looks like he has everyone wrapped around those little fingers!

and that hat is just ADORABLE………..as is everything in that store!

I am a bit poorer from you introducing them to everyone on your blog! My daughter looks adorable, but man, my wallet feels lighter! :) j/k… kinda

Anyway, I’m sure Small Fry is super excited to have a baby in the house again! I remember how much you said she loved playing little mommy to Stellan! The photos are just adorable!

  35. Kim says:

Love how she is just studying everything about him. Absolutely precious!

  36. Terry says:

These pics that you DID NOt take….yeah…they are awesome! Did you get the new big sis something special? When my second and third were born, we had certificates made up for the “Big Sister’s Club”, then we had them at the delivery-the doc signed them making them “official” and the new baby’s footprints were stamped on them. It was an awesome idea! (Thanks to my spouse…shhhhh…don’t tell him I said that)

  37. suzannie n says:

Did not have to run back in to the Goodwill store to get big brothers bag of shorts that I dropped off because little sister made a mess in her diaper, or I should say explosion, so she could have a pair of shorts to wear. As usual, did not have any extra clothes with! Nope, not me Monday!!

  38. Elaine says:

The pictures are adorable. Congratulations on the birth of your son and glad to see that baby Lachlan is finally home. I just love the name.

  39. sandra says:

I am not going to tell you how adorable those pics are. No not me.

  40. Bridget says:

Those pictures are precious – Small Fry will be a wonderful big sister!

  41. Jen L. says:

She is such a sweet big sister. I wonder if Stellan will feel relief that the pressure is off of him now…..

  42. Karlene says:

What precious photos, you have some of the most beautiful children – enjoy this time, so glad all things went well.

  43. Linda says:

Oh, one more thing. In your copious free time, I think you should get this series of shots of M. holding the new baby printed and have them matted and framed for her room. (all in one big frame with cut matting). I did a similar one for one of my Grandsons with shots of him eating his first spaghetti–still one of everyone’s favorite wall hangings, although he is now eight. I can just see this on her wall, and I’m sure she would love it for years to come.

  44. Linda says:

I rarely comment, but I must say that these are some of the most wonderful pictures I have seen anywhere–capturing the various expressions of joy, wonder, and love on your little girl’s face is touching, especially to a lover of babies and little girls! Nothing captures the image of true love more the the innocent faces of children. God bless each little one–enjoy this special time.

  45. Becky says:

Oh, I can just see her now, trying to put him in her baby sling!:) She does not look happy in that one picture when Big Mac tried to get in on her shot! HA!!! And I just realized…this means Stellan is a big brother!!!!! YAY!!!!

  46. Nicole says:

Oh my goodness. I love how you can see the awe and wonder in her face! Congratulations!!!!

  47. Melissa says:

you can see all the love she has for that little guy!! what a mother hen! :o )

  48. Rebecca S. says:

I just love those moments where you have the sibling holding their new babe! My favorite picture is where she’s leaning down to kiss him! Brought back memories of when mine where all new borns. I ache to have another, but cannot. Which is totally fine because I can now enjoy watching mine grow into independent young men! With my oldest being 13 and youngest being almost 9. They grow up so darn fast and all we as mothers want to do is keep them little forever! Thanks MckMama for sharing your family with all of us.

  49. momofm@m says:

I love the one of Small Fry kissing her baby brother’s little head. She must be over the moon! All your children have such beautiful eyelashes!

  50. Lisa says:

I love the photos of Small Fry with MckFlurry! As a young child, it was always my dream for my mom to have another baby for ME to raise. And I can imagine my twin girls (age 4) would love a new one.

I don’t know anything about blogs or links, but these pics reminded me of my kids. I delivered 5 kids in less than four years, the second stillborn and the last, twins born at 30 weeks. They were born 2 pounds 9 oz. After we got them home, I had them laying on a blanket in the middle of the living room. I walked across the room and looked back over my shoulder to see their 15 month old brother holding one of them up in the air by a foot. There he stood just holding her three pounds easily in his grasp as she dangled quietly. No problem, Mom! My first impulse was to scream, “NO!” but I realized it would scare him and he’d drop her on her head. I ran like never before and made it to save her! Well….or at least that’s what I would have done had this happened to me! Not me!

  51. Rachelle says:

Oh my Gravy…that is the most adorable pictures I’ve ever seen. Especially #1. She is going to be the best mother when she has a baby! Thank you for sharing!

  52. Sarah says:

No “Not Me!” for me…just wanna say that I LOVE these pics of the big sister and her baby brother…and I guess I’m clueless but I never realized how much Nuggey and SF look alike in the face! :)

As for nodding off in church, I think you’re MORE THAN AMBITIOUS for even going to church that soon after getting home/giving birth!

Take care of yourself. So happy for your latest of the MSC. Precious! :)

  53. SaraR says:

I love these pics of SF with L. I almost cried at the one with her in your last post. So sweet. Nothing like a big sister’s love.

  54. Deb says:

I LOVE the photo of SmallFry kissing MckFlurry ~ sooo precious!!

I can’t believe that you actually made it to church yesterday….after just giving birth….by C-section….with kidney stones!!!!

  55. Danille says:

LOVE it!!! :) My youngest daughter was the same way when her baby brother was born :) Now I wish I had a blog just to win the Briar Claire hat! We ordered a few a few months ago for my “girly”daughter, my other daughter on the other hand, will “not wear anything so girly” :) But I can contest… They are the most gorgeous hats anyone will ever find!

  63. Becca says:

I am not admitting to having made a blog domain months ago only to be derelict and not post anything. And I definitely didn’t cry for almost 2 hours on Saturday because my vacation was over. I am adult and do not do such things.

  64. Give yourself credit for making it to church!!!!!!! :)

Those pictures of Small Fry and Lachlan are SOOOO adorable. She looks like she is eating up every second of it. I LOVE IT! :)
