Not Me! Monday

Are you feeling guilty for going camping with your family and letting your husband do nearly all of the work? Overcome with embarrassment when you checked into the pediatrician’s office and couldn’t remember your child’s birth date? Well, don’t be! Not Me! Monday was born out of my desire to admit some of my imperfections and reveal a few moments I’d rather forget. You may find it therapeutic to join in and do the same thing!

I’ll start!

I did not come up with the idea to go camping with our family (including a three week old). I didn’t ask (er, beg) my husband if we could go. Not me! I am way more rational than to desire sleeping in tents with all of our children, leaving the house a mere 4 hours after deciding we would go.

I did not shed actual tears when my tried and true breast pump breathed its last yesterday. Nope. Who gets that emotional over something like that? Not me!

I didn’t have such a late night on Saturday that I dozed off during church (Again!) on Sunday! How embarrassing that would have been. Good thing there is no way I did it!

And, finally, I didn’t become friends with one of the sweet nurses who took care of me last month when I was hospitalized with kidney trouble and end up inviting her over to our house for a photo shoot with her family yesterday. Not me! Nor did I, right in the middle of our shoot, look down and see an enormous frog in the grass and holler at the top of my lungs for Nuggey to come see it. Nope. I’m super professional and wouldn’t holler during a photoshoot in the first place. And I certainly wouldn’t do it at the top of my lungs or in order to point out a slimy green thing to our animal loving four year old.

I would never take a few shots of our delighted son and said frog before continuing on with my photoshoot without missing a beat. Nope. That is just not how I roll.

I’d really like to join the Not Me Monday but I’m having trouble doing that. I’m so bad with computers though, maybe I just don’t get it. Anyway, some help would be most appreciated! Thanks!

  4. As always – thanks for keeping it real. Fantabulous pics and confession – i dozed off at church a few weeks ago. It happens, but thankful for a forgiving God. :D

I have to comment on the “not remembering your kids birthday” part. My birthday is 4/18, daughters’ are 3/18 & 1/18 & son’s is 9/19. I swear some of the receptionists think I am crazy when I stumble over birth dates!!

  6. Emilie says:

I most certainly not grab the metal handle on my skillet sans pot holder as I took it off the grill. And I am not still crying an hour later because it still hurts!!! And now I am not going to look up the difference between 1st and 2nd degree burns….and finaaly, no, it did not take me 10 minutes to type this with one hand :@

  7. This my first time really looking around your blog and I DID NOTcry when I read the story about Stellan’s pregancy, and I did NOT CRY when I read the story of his healing!

Aw, man! Here I was, all hoping for a sneak peek at T’s photos!! Dang it, anyway!

  9. Kara says:

At least your husband is there to wake you up when you fall asleep in church! I once fell asleep (and started snoring) when my DH was on deployment. And I once cried because the sky was blue. Post partum hormones are something else! :)

Thank you for accepting my entry in my first-ever blog carnival.

I was/am a sahm (kids are teens) and never used a breast pump! I tried for kicks when my daughter was a newborn and never got the hang of it. Did not really need it though and I don’t think my daughter would have ever taken a bottle anyway. The pumps must be much better now! I do know my sister rented one for a few weeks when her daughter came home from nicu.

i did not buy my 3 yo new pjs and rainboots yesterday. and i def did not let him play in the rain and jump mudpuddles with said brand spakin’ new pjs and boots on. nope, not me! and i did not realize in mckmama’s post about camping that i would try and start living life to the fullest. :)

southern love and prayers from alabama!

  12. Lauren Kelly says:

I have a HUGE frog that has taken residence on my porch that Nuggey needs to come check out, haha!!!

  13. Jeanette says:

I caught a toad for Brookelyn and the neighbor boy over the weekend. It was Brookelyn’s first time playing with one, and she did really well! They played with it for awhile and then set it free, it was cute. I thought of Nuggey though while I was catching it, which I thought was kinda funny!

  14. Julie says:

So funny that at least 2 other blogs had comments about frogs in their Not Me Monday posts! Was a froggy kind of weekend!

  15. Karlynn says:

Oh my goodness, Jennifer! I completely undersatnd being emotional about stuff like that. I most certainly did NOT cry when I sold my trusty breast pump a couple weeks ago. Not me!

  16. Love the frog. I have to agree with your little man, little green creatures are awesome.

Sorry to hear about your breast pump. I can totally understand about the tear shedding(as you will see from my NMM post).

  17. I am curious about your thoughts on the proposed mosque near/at ground zero… interesting and heating discussion going on here:

  18. Jenilee says:

lol i have a frog in my not me post! my girls are playing with one. how funny!

  19. I also rented a breast pump and it worked great. Especially if you will only need it for the first couple of months and don’t want to buy a new one.

  20. carlotta says:

I love the photos of Nuggey and the frog! Love the frog’s “paint job” (Ha! The paint job done by God… ;) )

  21. Sara says:

Love the pictures of Nuggey and the frog!!

Camping with a newborn…you are nuts!! :cP

When I first got my pump, I put a piece on backwards so it didn’t work. I cried and cried because the store wouldn’t take it back, they said I had to contact the manufacturer. It ended well, but I was so upset over it.

  22. Sarah says:

I love Nuggy and his critters. When I was his age we had a tree in our backyard with a hollow root. Everyday I went back there and pulled out a frog. Mom was terrified that I was going to pull out a snake one day. I never did – but I did get lots of frog pee on my hands.

  23. Melissa says:

You are not alone! I am a visual learning to the max and sleep through the majority of sermons…in the front row. It’s awful.

  24. pam says:

i rented my last breast pump when my daughter was in the NICU and it was amazing

  25. momofm@m says:

Aww, love pictures of Nuggey with slimy, green things!

  26. Samantha says:

I’ll tell you exactly who gets so emotional over a breast pump breaking- someone with some raging post-partum hormones! I recall bawling my eyes out over a Hallmark commercial when I was in your condition! :)
