stream of consciousness

Nuggey’s birthday is coming up. We’re having a handful of friends over for a casual party this weekend. I was able to procure an awesome surprise for our soon to be four year old, too. He’s going to love it, I think! I found this discussion about husbands as best friends (or not) very interesting.

I’m eating Heath ice cream. I got an oil change for my husband’s car today. And I’m having a pay for one week of advertising on my blog, get the second week free sale going on right now. If you have a business, Etsy site or even your own personal blog you’d like to promote on my blog, just email me at contact.mckmama@gmail.com and we can chat about it! Check out the handful of new square ads I have in my left sidebar already. I have a compelling desire to have every single thing I own perfectly clean before Flurry is born. Today, I used rags and cleaning solution to wipe down all of our carseats. They were totally nasty. I added Flurry’s infant carseat into the car, too. We’re going to be all packed in there like sardines!

Small Fry got a new hat. She’s liking hats more and more as she gets older. She even put this newsboy cap on crooked all by herself. She’s so stylish and cutting edge. Either that, or she just doesn’t know how to put on her hat straight. One of those.

I also have the urge to get every single scratch and dent (from toy hammers, fingernails, plastic car keys and children’s heels) in our walls patched and repainted. Not sure if that will really happen before our baby is born, but I did go around with a roll of blue painter’s tape today and mark every single spot that I wanted fixed. It was a lot. We’ve lived here for less than a year. But we have four kids. Who are kind of, ahem, crazy. By the end, I was marking minute scratches that I needed my magnifying glass to even see. I started to think I was getting a little ridiculous, but I still couldn’t stop. But then my husband offered to scoop me this bowl of Heath ice cream. So I pulled myself away and here I am now.

I’m still feeling really, really good (pregnancy wise) and I still have no idea why. But I’m enjoying it. I’m so, so, so, so super excited to meet our new little boy, though!!! I took our kids for an early evening hike in the woods tonight. I took this second photograph of our daughter this evening after our hike and I thought it was so cute.

I am working on changing all of our children’s sidebar profile photos. And getting super pumped about the huge giveaway I have coming on my blog next week. If you like technology, you’re going to love this.

Goodnight, people!

Love that picture of Small Fry. She is precious.

  5. Enjoy those last few days of pregnancy, that anticipation is excruciating and heavenly all at the same time…

  6. Okay…I’m not going to enter for the gift certificate, but did want to share from out of the mouth of one of my babes…. (said with such love) “Mommy, when I get big….I’m gonna have a big butt just like you” Said while I was bending over picking up toys. “Yes, thank you Natalie! I love you!”

  7. Becky says:

Oh my word…Small Fry is SO adorable and grown up looking in that picture!!

  8. Kate says:

Hahaha love the new “Out of the mouths of moms” posts. My favorite that I’ve heard another mom say was:

“I know you’re tired and it’s getting past your bedtime but you cannot sit on your brother’s head.”

  9. Mindy says:

Where is SF’s hat from? It is adorable!

  10. Glad that you are having a wonderful day with your wee ones. Ice cream! YUM! I love checking out your blog on a regular basis and hope that your delivery of McFlurry goes well and without complications. Good night! =D

  11. Julie says:

*singing* I reeeeally love technology, but nooooot as much as you you see…. but I reeeeally love technology.

Do you know what that’s from Mckmama?

  12. alisha says:

glad to see this hat on a little girl– i make these (well, not hers)– but i have two boys….so it is a little difficult seeing what the finished product would truly look like in it’s intended setting! :) she’s so cuuuute!

  13. Buff says:

::chuckle:: I was miserable at the end of both my PGs, I was big as a house (my babes were very tall, 22 and 23 inches respectively), couldn’t get behind the wheel of my car the last weeks. But the final week I felt absolutely….wonderful, bounced out of bed, energy to burn, I could BREATHE (from the dropping). I remember my mom (she had 7) looked at me one day after whining about how crummy I felt and wow, I feel SO MUCH BETTER TODAY! She laughed and said “uh huh, you’re going…..soon, tonight even!” and she was right. My son came 10 hours later, very quickly, even had to be rushed off in an ambulance cuz I woke from a dead sleep to strong contractions <2 mins apart. Methinks you're getting closed. Good luck and God bless.

  14. Melissa says:

Love those nesting instincts! :-) Mine was to obsessively clean my entire kitchen. I ended up scrubbing all the cabinets.

And Small Fry is so adorable! I hope if/when I have a daughter someday she loves hats!

  15. Amie says:

You need to invest in paint buddies (I think Rubbermaid makes them)! They store the paint and have a roller on the end so you can just open it and touch up scuffs as they happen. You close the top when you are done and just rinse the roller. They are super easy. In fact, if you like them you should try a giveaway with them. They are awesome! Sold at any major hardware store.

  16. S Club Mama says:

Your daughter is stylish – and so beautiful. So are all of your children. :) Can’t wait to “meet” the newest of the MSC.

  17. Gina says:

I went nuts organizing yesterday too. That never happened with my first pregnancy! I just wish there wasn’t so much cleaning/organizing/laundry to do so that I could worry about things like marks on the walls!

  18. Jill says:

I love her new hat. That color is great on her! I would love a cute hat like that for my daughter!

  19. With all the cleaning and the way you are feeling I think McFlurry will be here SOON… at least that is how I was with my second one. I cleaned my entire house all in one day – I amazed myself and my husband… I had been feeling the best that I had felt my entire pregnancy and bingo – the next night we met our little Anna Claire ;)

  20. Nicole says:

LOVE that hat on Small Fry!

  21. Sarah says:

I’m excited to see the surprise you have for Nuggy, cuz my oldest turned 4 just last week!

Is that really the color of Small Fry’s eyes?? She’s adorable!

  22. growingreenpeas says:

PS I have a feeling that MckFlurry is going to be here very soon with all that crazy nesting going on!!!
PPS- SMART husband- Heath ice cream… even I am being lured from whatever task is at hand… nomnom ;)

  23. growingreenpeas says:

AHHH!! That Hat is ADORABLE!! Where did you get it?! I am due with our first girl and can’t wait to get cute hats and bows!!! (of course YOUR sweet girl is so beautiful and photogenic!)

  24. EmilyL says:

Nesting, anyone!!! I love that final surge of energy before birth. You are getting ready… :-)

And LOVE those photos and hat!

  25. Sarah says:

Love that pic of SF in her hat that makes her blue eyes “pop”. The new sidebar pics are great, too! :) So glad you’re feeling well. Hope you have a great time celebrating Nuggey’s birthday.

  26. Suzanne says:

I love technology! I do, I do! That Blog Frog conversation was interesting…

  27. katherine says:

    hello nesting!!! :)

  28. Heather says:

Small Fry looks super cute with that hat!
I love that side-bar pic of Stellan!

  29. Debra says:

Happy early birthday, Nuggey! Wishing you and your family a fun filled party!

Love the pics of SF! I too love that hat & sure wish some of the Etsy sites would make them in my size. ;) I tried on my daughters & well, it smooshed my brain. Bummer!

Praying the remaining time of your pregnancy is a smooth and comfortable one!

    God Bless!

  30. Jeanette says:

I have a question completely unrelated to this post, but inspired by the new hat.

What do you do with M’s outgrown clothing? Naturally, you keep the boy clothing and pass it on down. Do you keep the girl clothing as well in case you need it later on down the line, or do you pass it on to your niece or the daughter of a friend?

  31. Trish says:

My son is turning 4 tomorrow! I can’t believe it. Wondering what you got him for his bday gift.

Love the pics of Small Fry. That’s the only thing I miss with having all boys…no cute hats with flowers on them! Guess I’ll settle for the backwards crooked baseball hats my boys sport for me!

Sounds like you’ve got some nesting going on…wonder when Flurry’s gonna make his debut?!

  32. Rebecca says:

I am so jealous of the ice cream… I am 23 weeks prego and have pregnancy induced lactose intolerance…. yes it is no fun at all! I cant wait to (meet) your little guy too! I am too having a little boy!

  33. Love that hat! It matches her eyes beautifully! :) My girls are all into hats (except for when I want them to actually wear them…like in the sun).
I noticed you changed your blurb under your picture (and I like it). I wanted to let you know about an awesome book I just finished called “The Husband Project.” It’s 21 days of blessing your husband without him knowing. Probably not a good one to start NOW for you but thought I’d mention it in case you want to tuck it away. :)

  34. Rebekah says:

The anticipation of the baby coming is sometimes unbearable. I remember that five times over. Im looking forward to reading of your happiness when you see your fifth child come into the world. It never gets old.

  35. Terria says:

That pic of Small Fry with her hat covering her face is too funny…Abbey does the same thing with her red one and says that she is Spiderman! Those pictures of her are breathtakingly beautiful…what a stunner! Glad to hear that you are feeling good through these last weeks…enjoy the Health ice cream, it is actually really good! (I think so, anyway!) :)

    • mckmama77 says:

I’d love to see Abbey doing the same thing:) I LOVE Heath…but the ice cream was just so-so. I think that’s because I’m just not an ice cream girl! Great to hear from you:)

      • Terria says:

I could totally see the toffee/cream overload…Bryan will not eat any candy ice cream so I rarely get away with it!

It seems like every time one of the kids do something that I “have” to get a pic of…by the time I get my camera, the moment has passed so then it is just me harassing them! You definitely have a wonderful gift for capturing “the moment”! (I have used a bunch of the pics that you took at the Arboretum on my blog…they all turned out so great, thank you again! ;)

  36. Gretchen says:

oooohhh… where is the hat from please?? etsy site?? thank you!! :)
